Snow Drifts

about

Back in in Jr. High, song structure and rhythm came together for me when I started putting together tunes in a type of sample-based music sequencer software called a tracker. It changed everything for me. Sheet music and formal lessons never organized my mind the way this did. For years I wrote many genres of music from techno, industrial to chippy video game things. All the while I was playing guitar increasingly more and eventually electronic music fell by the wayside. Eventually I missed it enough, and sought out a modern tracker that I could use all the excellent software instruments and plug-ins that abound these days. Renoise fit the bill. It felt like home. Mostly I've used it to draft drum tracks and little experiments, but this is something I actually finished using this format of writing again. With that nostalgia, it seemed fitting to release this after it's been sitting for a while. I wrote it shortly before moving from Pennsylvania. Florida's a different world far as the weather goes...it gets in the 80s in February. I was on the phone with my parents tonight and my dad mentioned it was probably going to snow tomorrow.
